Auto Curation

This is the main "process my new photos" job. It runs automatically on photos you've just uploaded, and the system goes through them step by step to organize, clean up, and understand them.

What it's for

Use this when you have a batch of new, unorganized photos. One run handles the full first-pass workflow so you don't have to trigger each step yourself.

What happens (in order)

  1. Looks at what's in your photos
Figures out the scene (e.g. beach, birthday party) and what objects appear (people, pets, landmarks, etc.). If a photo has GPS location data, we also find the real address for that spot.

  2. Organizes photos into albums
Groups photos taken around the same time and place into events, gives each album a readable name, and moves photos from your upload area into organized folders (by year and album).

  3. Creates smaller versions for browsing
Makes lighter copies so photos load quickly in the app.

  4. Reviews each photo in detail
Checks quality (including blurry shots), flags sensitive content, and adds helpful descriptions.

  5. Finds duplicates
Spots exact or very similar copies so you can avoid keeping the same photo twice.

  6. Recognizes faces
Detects faces and groups photos that likely show the same person.

  7. Picks the best photo for each album
Chooses a strong "cover" photo for each album so it looks good when you browse.

What you get at the end

  • Photos sorted into named albums instead of one big pile
  • Faster browsing (smaller preview sizes ready)
  • Blurry, duplicate, or sensitive photos flagged for review
  • Faces grouped so you can find people across albums
  • A suggested best photo for each album cover

Good to know

  • This is meant for new uploads, not photos you've already organized.
  • It runs automatically through all steps - you start it once and it finishes the full workflow.
  • For very large batches, the system may split the work into smaller chunks so it can process everything reliably.
  • When curation finishes, open the Library on desktop, laptop, or Android to review results. TV apps are view-only and do not include the Library - see Your Library.
